Carmen Aristegui

Carmen Aristegui is a renowned journalist and anchor with a distinguished career in Mexican radio and television, as well as a strong international presence. She has received multiple National Journalism Awards in Mexico, along with international honors such as the María Moors Cabot Prize from Columbia University, the Knight International Journalism Award from the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ), and the Gabriel García Márquez Award for investigative reporting. She has also been decorated with the Legion of Honor by the French Republic and awarded the Order of Merit in the rank of Knight by the Government of Germany. She is the author of several books, including Transition: What Was Done and Left Undone for Democracy in Mexico, Marcial Maciel: Story of a Criminal, and One of Two, which analyzes the electoral process in Mexico. Carmen Aristegui is the founder and director of aristeguinoticias.com, one of the country’s most influential independent news platforms. She is a member of the Governing Council of the Gabo Award, a foundation for Ibero-American journalism created by Nobel laureate Gabriel García Márquez. She has also served as president of the Walter Reuter German Journalism Award and the Javier Valdés Investigative Journalism Award, sponsored by Penguin Random House.
